That there has been no comparative study of the full range of women's poetry in Ireland, Scotland and Wales 1400–1800 is due primarily to the difficulty of finding a single scholar with the appropriate linguistic expertise and literary interests. It is also a result of the disciplinary division between the study of Celtic and Anglophone literatures and cultures. This project has approached this difficulty by drawing on the expertise of a team of experts.
